Deidre in kigu stands mirrored in front of herself, outside of kigu

this game was made for the DOLL & KIGU JAM, and i have never felt as seen and vulnerable as i had when first reading it. the artwork by PPilotco is gorgeous, and is another example of her incredible grasp on textures and colors. the story follows a situation i (as well as many others like me), am intimately familiar with; that of meeting a long-distance relationship for the first time in-person.

following Deirdre was honestly, really intense, i see a lot of myself in her, the agony of not being able to live your life in a way that makes you happy, the shame and disgust and longing.
The Longing especially.
the comfort in the inhumanity, it's honestly hard for me to put into words how much this story spoke to me on a deeper level, and i highly, highly recommend you play it

comic

Absolute Wonder Woman #1-7

9/10

released: 2024-25

growing up, i read a lot of comics, every week i'd visit the local public library, and checkout a new story i hadn't heard of before; from dc to marvel to image to dark horse, i was always reading something.
however, near the end of middle school, i slowly read less and less of them, mostly out of boredom and changing interests; so i dipped out around during DC Rebirth, which had a less than stelar depiction of Wonder Woman.

imagine my surprise, when i heard raving reviews for a Wonder Woman comic! part of a wider line of comics, in the veign of Marvel's Ultimate comics, the Absolute Universe is a reimagining of classic DC Characters in a world that's darker and, but crucially has the heroes hope shine even brighter.
so i finally picked up Absolute Wonder Woman, and the first thing that captured me, was the gorgeous artwork and imaginative panel layouts, which seems to be a staple of the current era of comics, which i welcome. the relationship between Diana and her mother Circe is really touching, i enjoyed seeing the two of them play off on one another as we got flashbacks.

gosh Diana is so pretty, she's just aa,, can't really be impartial for this, she's just gorgeous; as well as physically imposing, especially when compared to other Wonder Woman comics which depict her as rather small and demure; here she instead towers over everyone she talks to. the most impactful panel by far to me is where she talks to a city of frightened population, and asks them to take care of one another, and that she believes in them; this is the potential Wonder Woman has always had, and it's lovely to see it juxtaposed with the monstrous threat coming for the city. i highly recommend reading this! even if you haven't read a Wonder Woman comic before, it's quite easy to just jump in and enjoy the ride, i look forward to read the rest of the run when i have the time!
